Hello lovely couples!
First off, congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time, but I also remember that excitement was soon taken over by that overwhelming anxiety and high levels of stress, not even knowing where to begin. Well we're here to help you embark on the journey of planning your wedding styling. Whether you’ve been dreaming of this day since childhood or are just beginning to piece together ideas, starting the styling process can feel a bit daunting. But don’t worry, we've got you covered. Here’s where to begin with planning your wedding styling...
Start with your vision:
I know most brides start on good old Pinterest, which is a great starting point for sure! But I went way too deep down the rabbit hole and loved everything and then felt even more overwhelmed as I started saving pins of ideas I didn't even know existed. So firstly, before diving into the specifics, take a moment with your partner to envision your perfect day. Think about the overall vibe you want. Is it a romantic, fairy-tale wedding with twinkling lights and flowers galore? Or perhaps a modern, minimalist celebration with monochrome colours and elegant simplicity? Maybe you’re leaning towards a rustic countryside theme with wooden accents and wildflowers. Whatever it is, having a clear vision will guide all your styling decisions.
Gather inspiration:
Next, it's time to gather some inspiration. We've spoken about Pinterest, which is a treasure trove of ideas, and wedding magazines are always full of beautiful spreads. Create a mood board with images, fabrics, colours, and anything else that captures the essence of your vision. This will be your go-to guide as you make styling choices. Don’t be afraid to mix and match elements from different sources – it’s your unique day, after all! By saving pins you'll eventually realise what you're most drawn to.
Set your budget:
Let’s talk money – it’s not the most romantic part, but it’s crucial. Decide how much of your overall wedding budget you want to allocate to styling. This includes everything from flowers and table settings to lighting and drapery. Knowing your budget early on will help you prioritise and make choices that won’t break the bank. Luckily for you, we only offer one wedding styling package which keeps it simple, one price and it includes everything you could possibly need for your dream day, including flowers which is usually a huge chunk of your budget!
Choose a colour scheme:
Your colour scheme sets the tone for your wedding and ties everything together. Think about the season, venue, and your personal preferences. Soft pastels are perfect for spring, while rich jewel tones can add warmth to a winter wedding. Once you’ve chosen your colours, stick to them across all elements of your decor to create a cohesive look.
Think about your venue:
Your venue plays a significant role in your styling. Whether you’re getting married in a grand hall, a charming barn, or a colourful garden, the venue’s characteristics should complement your vision. For example, an elegant ballroom may call for more formal decor, while a rustic barn might suit more laid-back, earthy elements. Take note of the venue’s existing features and work with them rather than against them.
Hire professionals:
Hey, that's us! If you have the budget, I can't tell you how important styling is, it's one of the most important elements to your whole day. We can bring your vision to life and take the pressure out of the process. Even as wedding venue stylists ourselves, we still booked someone to set up our day because we know first hand how much time and effort goes into it, and we didn't want that hassle or stress on the morning of our big day when we should be sipping champers with the bridal party! Here's 10 reasons to book a venue stylist.
Personal touches:
Finally, don’t forget to add personal touches that reflect you as a couple. Whether it’s incorporating family heirlooms, displaying photos from your relationship, or creating a unique guest book, these elements make your wedding truly special. Guests love seeing your personality shine through in the details and we can incorporate your personality and own props into any of ours. For example, some of our couples like to make their own table numbers, or have a family member make their signage. We can work with anything to create your perfect decor.
Final thoughts:
Remember, your wedding day is about celebrating your love and commitment. While styling is important, it’s just one piece of the puzzle and it's something so many couples think way too deeply about. I know a lot of you may want to DIY it, but just consider the fact that it always ends up being way more work than you could imagine, you want to enjoy the process and not stress about perfection, that's our job to do for you. At the end of the day, you want the love and joy you share to be the most memorable part, not the bridezilla you became because of tea lights and flowers!
